Glendowan U10s 1 Northend United U10s 1                                                                      Saturday 30th October 2010

Northend travelled to this difficult away fixture seeking their third win in a trot. However, a stubborn Glendowan side made it difficult for the visitors, and in the end Northend was happy to share the points.
Northend started the better of the two sides and dominated the opening exchanges, forcing corner after corner, without scoring. Against the run of play, Glendowan went ahead after some slack Northend defending.
After going behind, Northend piled more pressure on Glendowan, which led to a Northend penalty, after Scott Sempey raced clear and was brought down in the penalty area. Blain Scott however, missed from the spot.
Northend scored shortly after this when a Scott Sempey flick-on was brought down by Ruairi Campbell, who raced into the box, and slid the ball into the corner of the net. Northend failed to add to this goal, and the score remained level at half-time.

Glendowan came into the game more in the second half, and had more scoring chances than Northend. The Northend defence though held firm with Louis McAfee in nets, Robert McCluney and most notably Matthew Willigan, the pick of the games best players.
Both sides failed to add to their tally in the second half, the score finishing at 1 - 1, with Northend happy to take the draw, and remain unbeaten in three matches. Matthew Willigan was the game's best player and easily won the Man of the Match.

Northend United U10s 8  Castle Juniors U10s 3                                                                  Saturday 23rd October 2010

After last weekends first win, away at Dromore, the Northend Babies were determined to notch up their first home win of the season. They started the game much the stronger side, the ball hardly entering Northend's half the first fifteen minutes.
Not surprisingly, Northend took the lead after their third corner in five minutes. Aidan Graffin crossed an in-swinging corner over the Castle Juniors defence, and Rian Lennon touched the ball into the net from the goal-line.
Despite continued pressure, Castle Juniors managed to squeeze an equaliser just before half-time after some slack defending from Northend.

Northend's two new signings, Sean McKay and Robert McCluney, made their debuts at half-time, and this was to change the match. Sean McKay's attacking prowess coupled with Robert McCluney's defending, enabled Northend to attack strongly while easily keeping Castle Juniors forwards quiet. Sean McKay scored Northend's second goal after an amazing solo run and struck a great shot, past the keeper, into the bottom corner.
Conor McGarry made it three with his first of the day, after some good work by Ruairi Campbell. Connor Meneely scored his first of the season and Northend's fourth with a great shot from 15 yards, with a pass from Scott Sempey. Conor McGarry then added two more quick goals, one a great solo effort from his own half, claiming his and Northend's first hat-trick of the season.
At 6 - 1 ahead, Northend appeared to take their foot of the pedal and this let Castle Juniors score two goals to make it 6 - 3. However, a foul in the penalty area on Kieran Campbell, allowed Blane Scott to slot home the penalty and his first of the season to make it 7 - 3 . Sean McKay scored the last goal of the match to make it 8 - 3.

In summary, this was Northend's best win and display of the season, and they will go into the next game full of confidence and looking for their third win in a row. The whole team performed well on the day, but Blane Scott who was outstanding at the back plus Conor McGarry with his hat-trick, made them joint Men of The Match.

Dromore Amateurs U10s 2  Northend United U10s 3                                                      Saturday 16th October 2010

Northend United notched up their first win of the season with a great away win at Dromore. Northend started the stronger side and deservedly went one nil ahead with a Conor McGarry goal after some great work from Ruairi Campbell.
Against the run of play, Dromore equalised ten minutes later. At this stage, Rian Lennon and Aidan Graffin began to dominate the game in midfield for Northend.
This led to Northend going ahead again just before half-time with the goal of the game. Conor McGarry flicked on a Mathew Willighan throw-in to Stuart Lecky on the edge of the box and he half-volleyed the ball over the keeper into the top corner of the net.
Northend dominated the remainder of this half, but failed to add to their tally, leaving the half time score 2-1 to Northend.

Dromore equalised early in the second half, starting this half the stronger side. Northend though gradually came back into the game and Ruairi Campbell scrambled home his team's third goal after some good work from Aidan Graffin and Scott Sempey.
Northend held onto their lead to win the game with their two centre-backs, Connor Meneely and Blain Scott, out performing Dromore's forwards.
Louis McAfee had a great game in goal for Northend but Blaine Scott and Conor McGarry just edged him to win Men of the match

Northend United U10s 1 Ballymena United U10s 9                                                      Saturday 9th October 2010

Despite matching Ballymena United in terms of possession, Northend United still found themselves 3 nil down by half-time. Such was the passion for this local Derby match, Ballymena United were considerably strengthened by two players from their U11 team for this match, with L O'Brien notably the difference between the two sides.

Ballymena scored three more goals early in the second half, before Northend finally got on the scoresheet with a Stuart Lecky volley from an Aidan Graffin corner. Ballymena added another three to their tally making the final score 1 - 9.

Despite the score-line, Scott Sempey and Connor McGarry were both outstanding for Northend. Ruairi Campbell also battled well up front, with little reward for his effort.

Lisburn Youth U10s 4  Northend United U10s 0                                                           Saturday 2nd October 2010

Northend started well against the league leaders and dominated the early stages of play without scoring. Midway through the first half, the Lisburn defence launched a long ball from defence, Northend failed to clear, and a Lisburn Youth forward raced through to open the scoring.
Lisburn Youth scored twice more before the break in a similar fashion, with Northend failing to stop Lisburn Youth's quick forwards.

Both teams shared equal possession in the second half, with Lisburn Youth always looking the more likely side to score the next goal. Lisburn Youth made it four nil late in the second half, enabling them to seal the match and cement heir place at the top of the league.
In a difficult match against the best side in the league, Northend performed well at times but their match inexperience showed in the end.
O Connolly, R Lennon and S Sempey were Northend's best players on the day.

Northend United U10s 0 Dungoyne U10s 1                                                     Saturday 25th September 2010

This was a closely fought encounter with both sides having good scoring chances before Dungoyne scored just before half-time.

The second-half was a great spectacle for the spectators with again, both sides going close with chances, but failing to beat both goalkeepers.
New signing, Louis McAfee had a great debut, the new goalkeeper saving the Northend defence on a few occasions. In the last quarter, Northend pushed hard for the equaliser and had two goal efforts saved on the line, first by Luke Herbison and then Conor McGarry.

The Dungoyne defence though stood firm against the Northend pressure and held on edge the game with a 1-0 victory.
Northend's best players on the day were Oisin Connolly and Conor McGarry who were outstanding in defence. Also Scott Sempey was strong throughout and has been Northend's most consistent player to date.

Despite Northend pushing strongly for their second goal, Shankill Youth scored twice before the break to go in leading 2 - 1 at half-time.

Despite having most of the possession in the second half, Northend failed to equalise and Shankill score two quick goals, going 4 - 1 ahead.

Northend United U10s 0 Hillsborough Boys 6                                                                                   Saturday 11th September 2010

Northend U10s kicked off their season, minus three first team players, with a tough opening fixture against experienced outfit Hillsborough Boys at Ballymena Showgrounds on Saturday morning.
Hillsborough opened the scoring after five minutes when Northend failed to clear the ball from their goal area and a Hillsborough forward tapped the ball into an open net.
Hillsborough added two more goals before half-time, their third goal effectively sealed the game after their forward raced clear to score, with the referee failing to see the player clearly off-side.

Hillsborough quickly added to their tally early in second half with two quick goals. It was only at this stage that Northend appeared to gain confidence and after a great run and pass from Conor McNeneely, Rian Lemon was brought down by the Hillsborough keeper.
Unfortunately, the Hillsborough keeper saved Matthew Willigan's penalty. Blain Scott came close shortly after with a great shot from the edge of the box which shaved the post.
Hillsborough scored their sixth shortly after this, sealing a good win in their first match. Despite this loss, Scott Sempey matched the effort and skill of any Hillsborough player, and for this reason, won the first Man of the Match for Northend.
Despite this being a young and experienced Northend team they played well at times against their more experienced and older opponents, and with players back, should be better prepared and ready for their next match against Shankill Boys next Saturday.

Man of the Match: Scott Sempey

Panel : R Campbell, A Graffin , L Herbison , S Lecky , M Willigan , C Meneely , S Sempey (c) , T McAuley , P Kyle , R Lennon , B Scott , J Coates , M Stewart , C McKillop
